Led by Norma Ely, her take charge attitude with human resources acumen allowed her as the Air Traffic Manager (ATM), to take on the difficult task of changing Andrews AFB Tower’s safety rating, image, and culture to ensure the President of the United States, Vice President of the United States and all VIP dignitaries arrive and depart the Nation’s Capital safely and efficiently. She has complete command of the complex technical and operational issues as an ATM and worked with a diverse audience which consisted of the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), the Safety Office (AJS), and other organizations on a regular basis. Many of her staff under her mentoring have move on to successful Air Traffic Controller careers.
